Under Armour - Chicago

Under Armour, the popular American sports apparel and footwear company, set out to change the gifting game last year with a festive holiday display in their Chicago Brand House. Specifically designed to tie into their “Gift Like a Pro” campaign, the interactive display encouraged fans to step inside and experience the ultimate guide to shopping (and gifting) like a professional.

When Hatch Exhibits, a custom trade show exhibit company out of Maryland, was tasked with creating the display, their preferred medium of choice was Wilsonart’s Solid Surface. According to Chris McCormick, founding partner of Hatch Exhibits, “its durability, machining properties and the ability to be backlit took it over the top.”

90% of the elements in Under Armour’s impressive main display – modeled after the Chicago skyline – was fabricated out of Wilsonart’s Solid Surface in Designer White including the base, bridge, and stadium. “The material was the perfect choice for the high traffic environment as well as its ability to become what we needed it to be – milling relief into areas, painting others and adding beautiful direct to substrate UV-cured printing that look beyond fantastic,” shared Chris.

Even the red baskets of the Ferris wheel featured painted Solid Surface. Carrying the themed display throughout the Brand House, all directional signage also utilized Wilsonart’s Solid Surface. “We chose the Designer White due to its bright white visual characteristics and its availability in the quantities we needed in such a short period of time. When we got the final approval to build, we had less than 6 days to fabricate so making sure we could get enough material and not have to wait on deliveries was crucial.”
